An artist-founded resource for examining research on installed visual art in healthcare.
Purpose
The resource is for healthcare leaders, clinicians, architects, artists, funders and researchers considering permanent art in healthcare. It focuses on the experience of encountering art that is already present in the environment.
Founder and declared interest
The repository was founded by sculptor George Petrides, whose practice includes public sculpture in healthcare settings.
His works at Aretaieion University Hospital, Aglaia Kyriakou Children’s Hospital, Tzaneio Hospital and Elena Venizelou Hospital, and a work being installed at Alexandra Hospital, appear as labelled examples of practice. Their inclusion is not evidence of health benefits, and no health-outcome claim is made for those works. Any independent research concerning them is assessed separately under the same published criteria, with the relationship disclosed.
The founder has a professional interest in public sculpture and its placement in healthcare. This interest is disclosed so readers can assess the resource accordingly. The repository does not claim independent institutional governance or external peer review.

Funding and editorial control

Editorial position
Inclusion does not depend on a positive finding. Positive, mixed and null results receive the same record structure and visual treatment, with limitations displayed alongside findings. No numerical confidence score is assigned without a documented appraisal method.
Artistic quality, cultural meaning and the experience of a place are legitimate institutional concerns. They should be described on their own terms, with clinical claims reserved for findings that the evidence supports.
References to universities, hospitals and research groups identify sources. They do not imply affiliation, endorsement or partnership. This resource does not provide art therapy or medical treatment.
Contact and contributions
For a proposed research entry, include the citation, primary-source link, population, intervention and outcome. For an installation, include artist, title, institution, date and location. A photograph is optional; if you supply one, include the photographer’s credit and permission to publish it.
