Findings, methods and sources
Finding. Over one year, four large statues were placed in the hospital gardens and reproductions of paintings were shown in shared areas and patient rooms, alongside 83 guided small-group art discussions attended by 451 patients. Of 201 patients assessed, 160 (79.6%) reported decreased anxiety after the art sessions.
Limitation. A multi-component programme with no comparison group reported in the abstract. The anxiety result follows the guided sessions and cannot be attributed to the statues or to any single component.
